3D Systems Acquires botObjects

The ProDesk3D will be folded into 3D Systems' new CubePro C printer family; back orders will be fulfilled.

3D Systems (3DS) has acquired 3D printer manufacturer botObjects. The company is planning to release the CubePro C, a full-color desktop printer with botObjects technology, a press release states.

botObjects created the first desktop printer that uses PlasticJet Printing. This technique offers full-color printing, making it ideal for designers, artists and engineers. The company also introduced a five-color CMYKW cartridge system, which enables mixing primary colors to create color combinations and gradient transitions.

The CubePro C can print at 25 micron layers and use PLA (polylactic acid) and ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) for materials. It has a build envelope of 275 x 275 x 300 mm.

“We are thrilled to add groundbreaking full-color with ultra thin-layer and high-speed technology from botObjects to our expanding consumer and prosumer 3D printing portfolio,” said Avi Reichental, President and CEO, 3DS. “We are even more excited to team up with botObjects founders, Martin Warner and Mike Duma, and together democratize the availability of this powerful 3D printer and accelerate its adoption globally.”
